Is the area really called 'Weed'? It leads me to comment that Helen (woonie blogger) lives in 'Bend'. Taken together (Bend, Weed), it seems they are instructions to gardeners! And I agree, it looks cold!
Stafford- yes indeed it is called Weed- named for the founder Abner Weed. Of course there is a souvenir shop in town with images of marijuana leaves on it with the saying "A friend in Weed is a friend indeed" honestly! and the local brewery has an IPA called Rastafarian IPA. Really! It's all so silly. The population here is 3000 and we don't mind the lack of traffic. We are still in the volcanic Cascade range with Mt Shasta at our fingertips and Mt Lassen that erupted I think within the last 100 years not too far from us. If we want city life we can drive 70 miles up the road to Asland Oregon where there is the famous Shakespearean theatre plus other cultural attractions. Or drive 5 hours in the opposite direction to San Francisco- we're not that bored yet! It's chilly here but the sun shines a hell of alot more often than in rainy dreary Portland Oregon. We're meeting new folks and having dinner parties every week-love to entertain and feed people. Up near Portland there is a town in Oregon called Boring...now there's a name to aspire to! hahah. I don't think they have come up with any snappy T-shirts yet.
I was about to ask if that was taken through your letter box but just remembered Americans don't have letter boxes. Looks cold!
