The burn pile grows....and glows
Meanwhile in the background you can see our deer fenced
veggie garden. Yesterday I put weed barrier down
and constructed two small coldframes.
Today I will plant spinach, pea and lettuce seeds.
Hopefully they will sprout!
The burn pile is from the de-constructed deck
in preparation for our remodel project.

We're leaving Bufo where he belongs

Our dear friend Keith Jellum made this sculpture
years ago for us and we have loved having Bufo in our garden.
We will miss seeing him turning in the wind but recognize
that Bufo should remain here as the garden sentinel.

Merry Christmas Apple Pie
Evidently when my son Paul was little he always asked
for Apple pie because he hated Pumpkin pie.
Obviously my mother ears weren't working too well as I
always made Pumpkin pie.
Until a few years ago when I was told of my grievous error.
So now every Christmas I make darn sure there's an Apple pie!
Today I made a simpler version of Apple Pie as opposed to
the more complicated Dutch Apple Pie.

Our Chickens Have a New Home
We are in the process of packing up our home
and will be moving mid-February to the Mt Shasta
area of California. We knew we wouldn't be able
to move our chickens there so a few days ago we
took our chickies to their new home just a few
blocks away. Here's a photo of Blondie and Moochie.
They are now living with two other chickens and they
all seem to be getting along. We will miss them and
it feels quite sad and odd not to look out the window
and see them pecking around our backyard.

One is never too old to play with trains....

A few nights ago we helped Tom and Steve set up their tree

I helped string the lights on the tree and Russell

helped set up the train that goes around the tree.

Their house is always so festive during the holidays.

Our friend Dave took these photos a few days ago-here's what he had to say:
"This little guy flew into a window while being chased by another Anna's hummingbird. He was stunned. and I was worried that his wing was broken, as it was askew when I picked it up. But after about five minutes of holding it, he recovered and zoomed away when a rival hummingbird went on the attack again."

I don't think I have shared this long ago
Christmas Card taken when Grace was only 10.
She and I trundled all 3 cats to a photo studio
The photographer was a pro at getting
the cats to finally behave.
(after Mr Cat pooped in a corner and
Larry bopped Grace in the head)
Grace is holding Mr Cat, I have Mini-Mouth
and Larry is in the basket.
Years later Grace sent this image in to be included
in the book "Awkward Family Photos". Since then there
has been a bit of notoriety sort of like
Andy Warhols "15 Minutes of Fame"
We've even been spoofed on "Access Hollywood"
Lordy.
