The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.

Photo #59

Large Second Growth Douglas Fir

"When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and

when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our

personality and get into the forest again, we shall

shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen

to us so that we don't know ourselves .

Cool, unlying life will rush in."

D.H. Lawrence

I get giddy just looking at that photograph!

The woods we used to live near had hundreds of squirrels in them and in all the time I walked in them I only saw a squirrel fall once ...

It takes an open heart to let things in. Like an appreciation for tall trees such as this one.
