Forest Fires

Smoke from several fires 2 hours to the south

has filled up the sky. The Eddy's mountain range

is barely visible in the background and we can really

smell the smoke.

A stretchy view of our landscaping project.

When we bought our 10 acre property a few months back

we did not realize that the over abundant Manzanita

was such a fire hazard. Well, we learned quick enough

and hired some help in removing a good deal of it

so if a fire were to come through our home would

be more secure . Now our Oak trees can actually breathe

and will be healthier.
We will also plant some conifers once the rains start this fall.

It's interesting living in a forest.

There have been forest fires in the past

that have gone through our property.

Starting today we will be removing a lot

of the flammable manzanita that cause

small fires to become big fires.

It's a 3-4 day project and not cheap,

but necessary when living in a forest.
