The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.

Large Second Growth Douglas Fir

"When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and

when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our

personality and get into the forest again, we shall

shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen

to us so that we don't know ourselves .

Cool, unlying life will rush in."

D.H. Lawrence

Yesterday I walked down the trail.
This trail leads to the Willamette River.
The bridge was built in 1920 to replace
the original wooden covered bridge.
That bridge crossed the creek on
Old River Road much closer to the river.

Take two....
After reading Eric Alder's comment on Photo #55, I went back
outside and took another photo of the snowy chair. I agree
that the pure white snow is more appealing to me than the
early morning blue tinged snow.
Thanks Eric!
and for more blue and white snowy photos go here:

Surprise!
Well...not that much of a surprise as the
weather folks have been telling us for a few
days to expect these snow flakes. It's fun to
wake up to a bluish white world.
I can hear the kids now, "Snow Day!"

Double Vision
My eye sees this two ways. Looking down into a reflection.
Or looking into another universe.
Sort of a hole in reality. Do I dare step into this?
~~~~~~
As you can see I have two photos for this day. I originally
posted the full moon below Photo #49 and then admonished
myself for breaking my "rule" of no duplicate images
and I had already posted a full moon in January.
So I guess every month there
will be a full moon image along with another image.
I am writing the rules as I go...hahahah.
Full Snow Moon
The Farmers Almanac says the full moon in February
can also be called the Full Hunger Moon. This was
taken at 9:23pm last night outside City Hall.
Snow Day!
I looked out the window yesterday and
SURPRISE! It was snowing. But only for a bit.
After awhile the sun came out and that was that.
Pretty to look at and no shoveling involved.
friend of ours Keith Jellum. You can see more
Every Monday Eric Alder posts one of his photos on his
Bifocal Univision blog and we are all invited to write
a poem or whatever to accompany his photograph.
Naturally I like to accompany his image with one of mine.
So here they are!
Rain weeps on
a cold stony heart while my
snowy heart melts
Happy Valentines Day!
This might seem like a peculiar photo for
Valentines Day to some. But for me it's a
perfect image. We fall in love and we
fall out of love for one reason or another.
When one door closes another will open.
So there you are.
My Happy Valentines Day photo to all of you!
Looking Over the Menu
Caught this shadow of a customer ordering
his dinner. Lavangs is a great little spot for
good Pho and other Vietnamese dishes. Yum.
This has been a two year process and hopefully
by May 31st this year the lake will be back to normal!
This is a panorama shot that unfortunately does not
have great resolution (Blogger does have it's limits).
A Collection of Memories
When my husband and I first met and began to date
I noticed that in his home there wasn't any "stuff"
around. But after awhile I saw that he had a little
growing pile of movie tickets, matchbooks from restaurants,
playbills from theatres we had gone to etc. It was like an
archeological dig of our relationship in a way. Now over 20
years later I realize that it isn't that he just has piles of
"stuff". These are his memories and souvenirs of all our
years together. And that is so very sweet.
The One Motorcycle Show
This was a fun motorcycle show.
Lots of old motorcycles,
great place to people watch
and appropriately loud heavy metal music.
The show featured 50+ vintage and
modern custom motorcycles from top of the
line race bikes to a steam bike.
Worktable in Russell's Den
While Lucy suns herself, Russell works
on his latest project- hand building a
black powder rifle. It may look like chaos,
but it's actually quite organized. We each have
a space we can call our own for messy projects.
Mine is usually full of fabric bits and pieces.
