The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.

I love cats.
Almost everyone we visited up in Portland
had at least one cat- one friend has four!
I adore this cat-her name is Fish.

The beginning of a fascinating project

The Sellwood Bridge has been pretty shaky
for quite awhile (over 10 years) but the powers that be are
finally beginning the process of replacing it.

Only the Dregs Are Left!
Since we only have 15 days left to this year
I thought I'd post this photo of the last drops in my beer mug
from last weeks Amnesia Brewings Winter Ale Festival.
This brew pub is one of our all time favorites!
Great ales, tasty bites and friendly staff!
Cheers to all and have a Happy Holiday!

Our Hops Will Be Harvested Monday!
We will be taking them to the Lucky Lab Brew Pub.
It's their annual Hop Day where we all take our
hops to donate. In return, we drink free ales
while picking all the hops off the vines
and eat free tasty bites. Six weeks from now we
will return and drink a few pints of our hops beer-
aptly named Mutt! It's a win win!

The 23rd year of Oregon Brewers Festival
http://oregonbrewfest.com/

The last full weekend in July will find us and many more
lined up at the multitude of beer taps tasting all the
new delicious brews. We always go the first day so as to
not miss any especially lipsmacking good hoppy beers.
Additionally, another entertaining part of the day
is the people watching and T-shirt reading. Cheers!

Somehow I don't think he's working on his tan...

This is one of the best t-shirts seen this year....

Yesterday was simply stellar- 70 degrees!

We took the bus to downtown Portland

and had the nicest afternoon.

Alright- some of it was spent in a dark pub

waiting to go into a dark movie house to

watch a 3-D movie about a newly discovered cave

and the 30,000 year old paintings on the walls.

Some of the movie could have been done

differently, but the images made so long ago

were so beautiful. What was the most interesting

thing is none of the images were of hunting and

there was only one obscure human image of a female figure.

After the movie we went over to North 45.

A super duper place for mussels!

We shared a huge bowl of stir fried green beans..

and then shared a huge bowl of steamed mussels in

a spicy garlicky broth. Complete with beer, bread and fries.

Yum. Then we walked the mile down to the bus and came home.

What a fun day.

Riding the rails

Yesterday we went downtown on the bus to catch the Red Line light rail over to the airport to do some Ikea shopping, then went over to N. Portland via the Yellow Line for lunch and then finally back to downtown Portland to catch our #35 bus back to Lake Oswego. While on the Yellow Line I chatted with this pleasant lady. Her little dog is a rescue dog that she has had for 3 years. I think she is one of our many homeless people here in Portland
