The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.

A Crisp Fall Day

The east wind was fierce this day-
but the sunflowers that tower over me have sturdy trunks-
not just wimpy stems!

There truly can be too much spagetti squash!
This garden plot is near my little garden.
My garden has absolutely zero spagetti squash-
one of the few winter squashes I don't like to eat-yuck!
Perhaps this gardener has left them in the hopes
that they will disappear?

Taken at World's End Pub in Edinburgh
Just when I think I have posted all the pics from Scotland-
I come up with yet another. These packets are condiments.
From the left we have vinegar, ketchup, mayonaise, tarter sauce and mustard.
I think?
At home our condiments are just covered with the makers
name and not quite as appetizing or appealing
as these cute little packets.

Summer is over!

My veggie garden is pretty pathetic looking,

but still chugging out food. These winter squash

will be yummy soups, gnocci and who knows what else!

Remodeling bathrooms....

Wonderful once done-but a messy path to completion.

At least we are able to do most of it ourselves!

The best part is we now have new flooring-

this is where we needed an expert-and now the

gorgeous carefree Marmoleum has been installed!

The First Day of Fall!
There are no red, orange or yellow leaves yet-
the very dark mornings are what I notice.

Sculpture made by Andy Goldsworthy from one entire Pilot whale skeleton.

On our last full day in Edinburgh it was so rainy we spent a few hours just looking at the exhibits in the Early People Gallery in the National Museum of Scotland.
It would take weeks to see everything in the entire museum.

Flodden Battlefield Monument
Russell with battlefield behind him. You can see the
monument far off in the distance on the left.

Russell's brother Rick insisted on our going to Flodden Field
just over the border of Scotland and England . We obliged and
we're glad we did. Thanks to Rick we had a nice adventure
and saw a bit more of Scotland and a tiny bit of England.
We took a train from Edinburgh's Waverly station to Berwick upon Tweed.
Then a bus from Berwick to Coldstream and finally a taxi
(we called ahead) from Coldstream to Branxton.
We spent two hours at the battlefield of Flodden and then the taxi picked
us back up and took us back to Coldstream. We had a pint at a nice pub and
wandered til it was time to take the bus back to Berwick and the train
back to Edinburgh. Nice day-thanks Rick!

Yesterday was a lovely sunny day so we spent it wisely.
Rather than doing croft chores we took a small Whiskey tour
along the Spey river- a very nice day.

Intensely working men, as they are paid by the barrel-
most of the work is repair work on barrels sent in.
On avaerage each man repairs 20 barrels a day.
This was fascinating to watch.

Finished barrels ready to be reused ....

but we're having a great time.

Edinburgh Castle
We spent our first day wandering the streets of Edinburgh.
Didn't dare go back to our B and B as we would have wanted to sleep!
Today we will explore along the Leith River,
go to the Museum of Contemporary Art
and back to the Raeburn Place neighborhood
where there are galleries.
Eventually we will find an Italian Restaurant for a nice lunch.

We are here in Scotland!

Arrived in Edinburgh about one hour ago.

Grey skies but warm and lovely to be here.
