The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.

We vacationed-now back to work!

Since returning from our week long time off in
the Bay Area Russell has transformed our old vegetable
garden into a nicely designed raised-bed garden.
He recycled a lot of the old deck lumber
and this will be so much easier to maintain.
Now I need to find a source for good growing soil!

Russell also finished the deck off what will be our
master bedroom. Now the exterior building is complete!
In the spring we can begin to landscape with indigenous
perennials and shrubs.

Our garage is also freshly painted!
Much nicer and fresher look.
The trim is the color of the house
and the house has a green as the trim color.
The stairs lead up to our guest apartment.

Now that the exterior is almost completed
we're getting the sheetrocking done!
After this the interior painting will be done.
Then the vanity will be installed along with
sink, toilet and tub. Then Russell can tile
and put in the hardwood flooring.
Woo Hoo= in the home stretch!
We won't know what to do when it's all done.

Another DIY task
Putting up sheetrock would not be as easy for Russell
and Edward without this engineering gizmo.
Thank goodness for clever design engineers.

Taking our new bathtub for a walk
Ordered online and delivered by a slightly cranky driver
as he was driving a semi with a 28 foot trailer and had to
negotiate our long windy driveway.

Another disappeared window !
This one will become a medecine cabinet
This second floor bathroom window had
to accomodate the new roof line.
Tomorrow I will show the other side of both
"disappeared windows". It'll make more sense then.

Temporary loss of view
I'll have my window back soon.....
it'll be a stained glass window opening
up into our art hall leading to our bedroom.

Raise the Roof Carpenters!

Today our trusses arrived!
The crane operator was amazing!
He operated the crane with incredible finesse
and skill. He made it look so easy!
Upside down trusses and right side up mountains.
Crane operator delivering last piece...
View from the back of the addition.
Jason sets down the last delivered truss.
Now the carpenters will nail them
and our roof will begin to take shape!
Amazing.

Construction update

Yesterday morning

Yesterday afternoon

Some insulation got tucked in before the
subflooring had to be put down before
the rains show up again. Russell is going
to have to install the remainder by
going under into the crawl space.

The beginnings of our foundation
I was impressed with the speed and efficiency.
 Everyone was working hard.
