The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.

Nature's Exclamation Point
While pruning trees on our property in
preparation for the contractor who will be
removing lots of flammable Manzanita, I came across
this image inside an Oak tree branch....

So this mess on the ground leads to
this nest shown below.
The Stellar Jays have been quite busy and quite untidy!
This should be fun to watch!

Here I am safely viewing the Ring of Fire eclipse
To see a photo of the eclipse go here:
Occasionally the clouds would pass over the eclipse.
The most interesting thing was when it was over and
it became light again the birds flew out of the trees
and the cows got up and started wandering around the meadow.
I think they were a bit confused!

Remembering Where the Wild Things Are!
Maurice Sendak passed away a few days ago.
He was a wonderful writer and artist.
My children loved his stories as did I.
Maurice had a wickedly good way of telling a story
and he will live on in his books.

Kathe's Test Garden
I have planted a variety of herbs in the small planter boxes: lavenders, oregano, sages and rosemary. The test is to see if indeed the deer will not eat them. If they don't then I know I can safely plant more in the flower beds.

I adore this cat-her name is Fish.
